Adrian Dommisse
Cor is an international tax specialist with more than 13 years' experience. He has experience in the application and interpretation of tax treaties, holding company regimes, withholding taxes, permanent establishments, international tax structuring for both in-bound and out-bound clients, exchange control regulatory matters and South African corporate tax. He has worked with clients across numerous industries and sectors, including agriculture, finance and banking, manufacturing, mining, entertainment, e-commerce, retail, insurance, energy and private equity houses.
Brian Dennehy

Brian has experience in several areas, including private equity fund formations, leveraged buyouts, management buyouts, merger & acquisition tax advisory, corporate restructurings, the structuring of derivatives, empowerment transactions, the design and implementation of management incentive schemes and general corporate tax advisory. Brian has also advised prominent South African and foreign corporate entities on numerous corporate transactions.
Shirleen Ritchie
Shirleen Ritchie
Shirleen is part of the mergers and acquisitions tax team, specialising in corporate tax, with the specific aim of advising on tax considerations as part of complex transactions. She has experience in the private equity and regulatory industries, including advising private equity clients on establishing structures for investment in renewable energy platforms.
Graham Viljoen
Graham Viljoen
Graham has over a decade of experience as a tax professional advising on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), leveraged buyouts, private equity fund formation, portfolio company investment and disinvestment, empowerment transactions, funding transactions, corporate actions, group reorganisations and rationalisations as well as general corporate and international tax advisory work. Graham is a registered member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and a registered Tax Practitioner. He is also an accomplished writer and speaker on tax, private equity and M&A. Prior to joining Webber Wentzel, Graham was a member of the Deloitte M&A tax team.

Ashford Nyatsumba
Ashford is involved in a range of investment funds projects, on both regulated and unregulated investment fund transactions in Africa. He specialises in the formation and structuring of alternative investment funds and has advised and acted for local and international private equity and venture capital firms looking to raise funds for deployment in South Africa and Africa generally. He also advises various development finance institutions, other institutional investors, as well as high net worth individuals relative to investing into Africa focused private equity funds.
Ashford also has experience assisting clients with regulatory and transactional matters throughout Africa and has previously advised on establishing operations in various African jurisdictions. Specifically, he advised a major Canadian corporate in the mining sector, on the formation and establishment of a subsidiary in Ethiopia and has advised other major corporate entities (both domestic and international) on their expansion into Sub-Saharan Africa either through establishing a presence in, and/or incorporating subsidiaries, as well as acquisitions in the various African jurisdictions.

Michael is a finance and investment funds specialist. He has over 20 years of post-qualification experience. Michael has advised on the formation of numerous private equity funds across Africa including but not limited to funds domiciled in South Africa, Rwanda, Namibia, Mauritius, Cayman Islands, Luxembourg and Guernsey. Michael's clients include general partners as well as investors such as Development Finance Institutions, pension funds, family offices and corporates.
Safiyya Patel
Safiyya Patel
Safiyya specialises in general commercial law, mergers and acquisitions and transactions related to Black Economic Empowerment (BEE). Safiyya has advised on transactions relating to joint ventures, company formations and reorganisations and has worked across the mining, financial, and construction sectors. Her expertise extends to media, telecommunications, broadcasting and information technology law. She has represented several international clients, local enterprises and various state-owned enterprises.
Mark Garden
Mark Garden
Mark has extensive experience and a depth of knowledge in all aspects of competition regulation (both in South Africa and north of our borders), including behavioural work (cartels and leniency applications, vertical relationships and dominance) and merger regulation (transaction structures, merger clearances, hostile takeovers and negotiating conditions). His proficiency extends to complex competition litigation in South Africa and on the continent. Mark contributes frequently to local and international legal publications. He is a regular speaker at antitrust conferences and client seminars, and lectures post-graduate students on competition law.
