Venture Capital (VC Office) Hours is a one-on-one between a VC fund manager or angel investor, and an entrepreneur. It is to give an entrepreneur an idea of what VC fund managers are looking for when they are considering investment into a company.
We believe this would assist entrepreneurs in positioning themselves when seeking investments from our VC fund managers.

I appreciated the session today with Kiara of Havaic. Her feedback was you know your market, you know how to activate campaigns and you know what you’re doing. This kind of affirmation is never wasted on a startup entrepreneur. There are days that you think you’re hitting a brick wall and you want to quit. Anything new? Yes, she suggested I look at companies beyond financial services providers (banks, insurance etc). I’ll go look at JSE listed companies who have an impact investment agenda or mandate. The other thing she suggested was to present and talk more about the benefits (what’s in it for me) for my clients. My biggest challenge is resistance to change; this is with corporate companies. They just go with what they know unless there are real benefits. In my case financial literacy is a compliance matter… a tick box exercise like BBBEE somehow. So yes… I need to carry on. Soldier on!
