Former COO of Accenture joins Grovest board

Johannesburg – 5 March 2014: Clive Butkow, the former Chief Operating Officer of Accenture South Africa has joined the board of Grovest Venture Capital Company Limited. Butkow has 28 years management consulting experience.

Since January 2013, he has supported and mentored numerous technology and other start-ups as well as small and medium size entrepreneurial businesses.

Grovest’s seasoned venture capital and private equity experts now include Butkow, Malcolm Segal, Jeffrey Livingstone and Jeff Miller who have each committed R2 million of their own funds to the venture.

Grovest Venture Capital Company Limited is South Africa’s first operational venture capital fund incorporated under section 12J of the Income Tax Act. This is a new asset class in South Africa which offers investors direct exposure to the rapidly growing venture capital sector, whilst offering up to 40% tax relief on the investment.

During Butkow’s tenure at Accenture, he played numerous leadership roles including MD of Accenture South Africa’s technology business. He also led sales for Accenture’s Technology business, cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset which helped grow Accenture into one of the top emerging markets globally.

Clive has deep technology skills from working across multiple industries. He has leveraged these technology and business transformation skills and helped drive significant shareholder value for many South African clients.

Clive joined Arthur Anderson in 1985 (now Accenture) after graduating from the University of the Witwatersrand with a B.Sc degree in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics.
