About the SAVCA Private Equity Conference Awards
The Southern African Venture Capital and Private Equity Association is excited to announce the inaugural SAVCA Conference Awards that will recognise the significant contribution by Institutional Investors, Fund Managers and Service Providers that operate within the Southern African region. The purpose of the awards is to acknowledge excellence, dedication and innovation within the industry through a self-nomination and peer voting process. The Conference Awards do not replace the existing SAVCA Industry Awards where the impact of portfolio companies are recognised, but to augment recognising the work by the major stakeholders in the industry.

Impact Awards (Institutional Investor)
Description: Recognises institutional investors’ commitment to ESG and/or impact investing.
There is one award under this category:
- South African Institutional Investor
Eligibility:
- Asset owner/LP invested into a SAVCA full member (local or international member)
- Evidence of the impact made (intent, measures, outcomes achieved)
- Evidence of future commitment to ESG/impact investing
Impact Awards (Fund Manager)
Description: Recognises institutional investors’ commitment to ESG and/or impact investing.
There is one awards under this category:
- Fund Manager
Eligibility:
- Has to be a SAVCA Full Member
- Evidence of the impact made (intent, measures, outcomes achieved)
- Evidence of commitment to making an impact either at fund and/or portfolio company level
Deal Of The Year Award
Description: Recognises acquisitions and exits that stood out during the preceding year.
There are three awards under this category.
- Acquisition – small/mid portfolio company (EV under R500m)
- Acquisition – large portfolio company (EV over R500m)
- Exit – large or small portfolio company
Eligibility:
- Has to be a SAVCA Full Member
- Transaction to have taken place in preceding year (2020)
Service Provider of the Year Award
Description: Recognise a legal provider and service provider that has been able to offer a product/service that resulted in efficiencies or value add for the industry, or showed some level of innovation.
There is one award under this category.
- Service Provider
Eligibility:
- SAVCA Associate Member
- Legal Advisor or Service provider/advisor to the PE industry
