James is an Executive Director of Kalander Kapitaal, the holding company of a single “family office” group and its subsidiary, Rational Expectations (“RE”), which invests locally and internationally in private equity assets. Prior to joining RE, he was the managing director of Macquarie Securities South Africa, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Australian listed Macquarie Group, for 6 years. Prior to Macquarie, James held dealmaking roles in corporate and structured finance at listed and boutique financial services companies. James is a chartered account with an honors degree in taxation. He articled and then consulted in the tax department at KPMG.
